Why use an external career companion with MSFS 2024?
An external companion can focus deeply on one kind of role without replacing the simulator. Jetstream concentrates on scheduled airline life: applying to carriers, building a roster, flying callsigns and routes, earning ranks, and seeing the same career record outside the cockpit.
That focus is also why Jetstream works with MSFS 2020. A pilot who has not moved exclusively to MSFS 2024 can use the same product and career model across both supported simulator generations.
When is the built-in career the better choice?
MSFS 2024 Career Mode is the better fit when integration and activity variety matter more than airline specialization. Microsoft describes a path through certifications and activities such as Medevac, remote cargo operations, aerial firefighting, and search and rescue, with freelance and company progression inside the simulator.
If those mission types are the reason you want a career, Jetstream is not a substitute. Its product identity is narrower: it is an airline career companion.
Can the two products be complementary?
They can serve different sessions, but do not assume that one career will synchronize with the other. Jetstream keeps its own pilot, airline, flight, progression, and entitlement records. Microsoft’s built-in Career Mode keeps its own progression inside MSFS 2024.
Use Jetstream when you want a Jetstream airline leg or custom flight to count toward the Jetstream career. Use the native mode when you want the built-in certification and mission path.
