What is an MSFS career add-on?
An MSFS career add-on is a companion application that adds goals, progression, records, and consequences around flights in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The simulator still flies the aircraft; the career app decides what the flight means over time.
Jetstream’s emphasis is airline flying. It builds an adjustable airline roster that defaults to five legs, tracks the selected leg through SimConnect, and grades the completed flight from telemetry. A qualifying result updates the pilot’s career, airline record, hours, virtual balance, and relevant airline mastery.
What does a Jetstream career include?
How does one Jetstream flight work?
- Choose a roster leg or custom flight. A custom flight currently uses 1,000 of the pilot’s virtual balance. A career leg includes an airline, callsign, aircraft, departure, arrival, distance, and estimated duration.
- Start the flight in Jetstream. The app connects to MSFS through SimConnect and follows the active flight.
- Fly the aircraft normally. Jetstream records bounded telemetry used for flight state, safety checks, grading, and settlement.
- Complete the leg. The backend checks takeoff, landing, route coverage, aircraft identity, warnings, and other evidence before accepting the result.
- Advance the career. A qualifying result updates the pilot’s flight record, hours, rating, rewards, and relevant progression.
Does Jetstream work with MSFS 2020 and 2024?
Yes. The current Windows x64 app targets both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It uses standard SimConnect variables for generic aircraft, with enhanced switch-state coverage for selected PMDG, iFly, Fenix, FlyByWire, and iniBuilds aircraft families.
What you do not need: the customer installer is self-contained. You do not need Git, the .NET SDK, the MSFS SDK, Visual Studio, or Developer Mode to run the released app.
Who is Jetstream best for?
Jetstream is the strongest fit for a simmer who wants to role-play a working airline pilot: join carriers, fly assigned or custom legs, improve a persistent record, see other active pilots, and add airline-specific cabin audio without turning the experience into a full airline-management spreadsheet.
It is not designed to replace MSFS itself, reproduce every kind of aviation job, or provide deep company accounting. If you want rescue missions, bush operations, a persistent business economy, or a cabin-first passenger simulator, another product may fit better. What should alpha pilots expect?
Jetstream is in public alpha. It is free to download and play, but features may change, online services may be interrupted, and bugs can affect progress. Career data is stored locally and selected career and logbook fields are also backed up to the authenticated account for restore.
An account and internet access are required for sign-in and server-owned flight settlement. Optional purchases are available, but no subscription is currently required or available.
